Putting Onself Out There
When Robin first asked me if I would contribute to her website I was initially very excited. What an opportunity to put myself out there into the world. Then the (my) fear set in. Who am I to put my ideas and experiences into a forum? Who would be interested in what I have to share? What if I said something wrong? What if I end up looking stupid? etc., etc., etc. It was pretty amazing how many reasons (excuses) my mind could create for not taking advantage of a great opportunity to contribute my voice to the arena of Spirituality and Personal Growth.
Within this I recognized a pattern that has shown up for me time and time again. I am reluctant to put myself out there until I have it all together. Things need to be perfect before I am willing to reveal my ideas, thoughts and experiences. Of course, they can never be perfect (in my mind). How easy it is to convince myself to stay withdrawn and on the periphery, rather than get more involved with life and the things that are important to me.
But, if something is important to me, if I feel called to action, then I believe that I have a responsibility to participate. I may not be perfect and it may not seem to be the best timing. I may make mistakes and it could get messy. Or it could Divinely inspired and one of the greatest successes in my life. And it may be any or all of these. Like the Phoenix rising out of the ashes, some of my greatest victories in life have come from seemingly terrible circumstances. My limited mind can often not see what God has in store for my life. Things are, however, always perfect in the Spiritual sense. As long as I am willing to take the next step, be open to being led and lean into the Spirit of my Being anything is possible.
I have heard it said "God doesn't call the perfect, God perfects the called". Who are you called to be? What are you being called to do? Where are you being asked to go? If you are being called, you are ready. Now. Put yourself out there. What is the worst that could happen? Failure is still another step on the journey. A step into greater success. Life is the ultimate win/win situation. The only way you can't win is if you don't play the game.
I had no idea that I would be writing this and it may never had happened had I not allowed myself to be led in a direction I couldn't see but have felt for a long time. Accepting any perceived flaws or inadequacies as part of the package that is Rev. Brian and moving forward anyway, simply creates a sacred space that allows others to step into their own potential.
I remain Perfectly Imperfect and invite you to join me on the path. Let's see where it takes us.

GOD’S SUGGESTION BOX Questionnaire
This is a gift book idea that I will be submitting to publishers in the spring.
I am offering this to you because I think you have a creative mind and an
interesting way of seeing the world. I am asking you to share an idea or
2 or 3 you might have to suggest to God in order to make things better
here for the human / world experience. Keep in mind this is a suggestion
for God. Something like ‘no more child abuse’ is not up to God; it is up to people.
